I’m but one of the Pressure Drop DJs, and what I’ve written out below isn’t reflective of the other DJ’s set.

They are just tunes I find myself playing a lot of late. Where possible, I’ve listed the riddims, as riddims are the backbone of our set.

In case this is new to you, riddims are the underlying beats and music to a tune. MCs or singjays do versions, which is why you hear so many of the same basslines reappearing in reggae, and sometimes beyond.
For example, stalag, listed below, has been used by St. Germain and the Freestylers, and many more. In fact, it’s been done about 200 times.

Because of the importance of riddims, listing top tunes is a limited practice: a tune is only as good as the riddim its in.

All of this said, and bearing in mind that there will also be another Pressure Drop DJ with his own preferences on the night, here’s my current and classic reggae and dancehall tunes. (formatting is a wee bit skewiff, but each listing is in the order
of artist, tune, riddim and label)
