Maighread Medbh appears at White House Revival this Wednesday. One of the best performance poets in Ireland, Maighread is one of the few irish poets with an professed affinity to hip hop ( I would include Gearoid Mac Lochlainn in this category as well). In the early 90s she experimented with recorded output (appearing on a tv show with scary eire and mc tyson once) and in performance she has a certain energy and vibrancy that is closer to a gig atmosphere than to book reading.
Her collection of poems, tenant, dealing with the famine from a young girls perspective is one of my favourite poetry books of all time. Worth checking.

Must pop along to a revival night soon. I'm fierce lazy when it comes to such events but (almost) always feel the better for having popped along.
