With all the stories of music shops closing, it was with certain air of trepidation that I walked up the grimy surrounds of Avenue De Clichy in Paris last autumn. I had stayed briefly in the area about a decade earlier and had ended up making frequent trips to Streetsounds. I remember finally getting a vinyl copy of the Young Disciples album "Road to Freedom", one of my favourite albums of all time. Happy times. However when I took a right on to Rue Ganneron, it was still there and inside the racks were still creaking under the strain of lots of hip hop, soul and funk vinyl. Small, dark, cramped but beautiful.
